Supporting Loved Ones

Supporting Loved Ones

When a loved one develops a chronic lung condition like Silicosis it’s natural that you too may go through an emotional
experience akin to grieving. There is often more questions than answers and it can be difficult and painful to talk together
about the changes in your lives.

These changes can often include things like:

• Emotional distress

• Acute and financial distress

• Mental health issues

If the illness is terminal, it’s important to talk about death and plan for the end of life. These conversations can be difficult
and very painful but there are ways to make them easier for both you and your loved one.
